How To Build A List & Market To It…
Firstly, builing a list of subscribers is one of the easiest things to do… It took me a while to realise this when I first started online, but as soon as this clicked I had my first 100 subscribers within just a few days… (the first one of which was me!)
However, building relationships with your lists, making them WANT to read your e-mails and ultimately buy your stuff or your recommendations is another thing altogether!
This short article is going to show you how it’s done.
But, before we go on, let me show you some PROOF that I can do this stuff and, more importantly, I know what I’m talking about…. because anyone can build a list. The trick is to then make money from it!!

This is a promotion that I did for a product called Social Network Empire. I think I made around $4,000 from this promo alone.
I also promote a lot of ClickBank products and this one went to number 1 on ClickBank with all of the TOP Affiliates promoting and promoting HARD. Here are the final standings for this one:
Nice! A cash reward for promoting and making money. I think I pulled in around $4k from this one as well…
So, how is it done?
How — EXACTLY — do I hit the send button and make sales as an affiliate?
Well, I do this through a variety of different methods, sneaky tactics and methods… and something else that I’m going to reveal as well… in just a moment…

Some FACTS before we go on:
1.) I have a buyer list right now of over 30,000 – this is a global list
2.) My total list sizes (in all the markets that I operate in) are in excess of 660,000 – so I know how to build lists!
3.) Having a big list does NOT necessarily make things easier! You still need to get the e-mails sent and you still need to build relationships with your list…
So, let’s get into the nitty gritty of how I have done this… and what you need to do as well.
– You need a high converting squeeze page and to do this you need to give away something of value. A free report, a video, something that will help people in whatever market you choose. This does two things:
It creates a high converting squeeze page – because people will want what you are offering and if they want it they will enter their name and e-mail! It provides something of value to your subscribers – both of which build your list and build a relationship with your list.
You can create a squeeze page yourself or outsource this using sites like elance.com or any decent website designer will be able to do this.
You then need to hook this up to an autoresponder account, so that your new subscriber will receive pre-written e-mails from you – automatically. You also then have the ability to “broadcast” to your list, which is basically a real-time e-mail sent out to ALL of your subscribers. I use GetResponse for my main lists and I also recommend 1shoppingcart to get started – purely because they both make adding custom form to your website so easy…
Again, any decent website designer will be able to create your page and add your form code, enabling subscribers to add themselves to your list.
– TRAFFIC, traffic and more traffic! Once you have a squeeze page, you need to start sending targeted traffic to your page. I do this through PPC – where I pay for traffic to see my page and I also use the CPA networks. The CPA networks send traffic to my pages via affiliates and I ONLY pay when leads opt-in through my page. This is called ”Cost Per Action”, where my action is a subscription – a very powerful way to build a list!
That’s the basics covered.
But once you have a list, you need to do two things in my opinion and they are:
1.) Promote and promote hard – both your offers and other people’s offers
2.) MORE importantly, add value, send tips, help people, post interesting and helpful articles… because this is ultimately why people will read your messages and why they will click on your recommendations and offers…
I hope this has been helpful and has pointed you in the right direction… Now CLICK HERE to buy my next product!
Only joking, but do you see how powerful it is?! Be valuable, be helpful and your subscribers will want to hear from you – over and over again…

helpful tips. thanks immensely.
August 24th, 2009 at 3:08 pmHi Chris,
Well, I am a pretty decent programmer and I have been thinking about setting up a programming tips and tricks website for web-developers. Do you reckon your approach/method would work with that as well?
Regards
September 21st, 2009 at 10:10 amI think this would be some sort of forum, so you would only be able to make money from advertising on this kind of website. I don’t think people would pay for this info when it is likely to be found with a free search… Chris
